The hack I'm currently working on is an undub of the video game One Piece Unlimited Adventure. This game was released in 2007 for the Nintendo wii and is one of my favorite games for the system. The fighting mechanics are very good, and exploring around the several locations with the Strawhat's is very exciting! As of now I have completed about 80% of the hacking work. Here is what I have done:
- I dissasembled the game so that the game was a bunch of folders.
- I then re-assembled the game after replacing all of the English sound and movie files with Japanese ones.
That's it. Yep, all I did could have been done in less than a day.
But it wasn't...
It took me about a week and a half to gather the required tools and knowledge to pull it off, and I'll tell you it wasn't easy. A good 3/4 of my time was just learning the programs, but now that I know what I'm doing I feel much more comforable modifying a wii iso.
After I finished this I ran into a problem with the sound effects. I would run the game and the sound effects were completly screwed up. In addition, when accomplishing certain tasks the game would make a terrible screeching noise that would take a good 5 minutes to stop. I found this was related to a file with the extension .brsar, a file type not fully cracked yet. Currently a tool to modify the contents is in production, but I won't give out a name since I don't want to put preassure on the creator.
With this knowledge, I put the American .brsar back into the iso and, viola! The game sound effects played perfectly, but the side affect was that the battle sound effects were now in English again. This will be remedied soon, but for now I will continue to release the patch anyway.
So I bet your wondering if this supposed hack even exists, right? Well, take a gander at this:
Nice, eh?
So this concludes my first post. I hope you found it informative! And if you find this stuff interesting, follow me as I will post updates about my hacking progress as I go along, as well as other neat stuff. Stay tuned!
Hi I was hoping you could help me with some information. I live in USA and I want to send a Nintendo Wii to a relative in Israel. What problems are there with doing that? Will the American wii work with Israeli televisions? What about Israeli DVDs or Israeli wii games? Anything else?
